Welcome to Year 4/5. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning.

Important information


  • Reading books and reading records are required to be in school every day. 
  • Our class library slot is on a Tuesday afternoon.  Books can also be changed before and after school every day.  Reading Cloud can be accessed here.  You are able to check books that you have checked out as well as search or new books and write a book review!
  • PE kits will be needed on a Monday and Friday.
  • Spellings will be handed out on a Monday to be returned by Friday.

What are we learning this term?


This term our exciting topic is 'Why were the Romans so powerful?'.  We will be learning all about Roman life as well as ending the term with a spectacular Roman themed day.Use the following websites to make a great start with your learning:

In English this term we will be working on our class book Escape From Pompeii.

The story 'Escape From Pompeii' by Christina Balit is based on the well documented events of Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii,  The opening and build up introduces two friends Tranio and Livia whose attention is suddenly diverted by an unusual sound.
